- Learn about New York State Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement (HELP) Program which allows State agencies to hire diverse, qualified permanent employees quickly and without examinations.
- Access Civil Service exam announcements and learn about the exam process.
- Learn more about currently available programs and spotlighted exam opportunities.
- Access online information about your health and other employee benefits, including new telehealth services for Empire Plan enrollees.
- Learn about the Civil Service Commission. Among other duties, the Commission hears and determines appeals on a wide variety of human resource and employment issues.

- The Empire State Fellows Program is a full-time leadership training program that prepares the next generation of talented professionals for careers as New York State policymakers.
- Applications are due June 1, 2025.
- Excelsior Service Fellowship Program
- The Excelsior Service Fellowship Program is an initiative to bring highly talented recent graduates of law, graduate and professional schools into government service. Excelsior Fellows bring diverse backgrounds and new perspectives to a host of policy and operational positions in New York State government. Excelsior Fellows start each year in early September and are placed within the Executive Chamber, a government agency or authority for a two-year fellowship. Prospective fellows must be nominated for the Excelsior Service Fellowship program through their law, professional, or graduate school’s Career Services Office or Fellowship program liaison.
- Climate Jobs: Building an Equitable, Resilient Clean Energy Economy
- The Climate Jobs Institute (CJI) has been provided grant funding to offer 250 New York State residents free tuition to enroll in this certificate from Cornell University.
- As the climate crisis intensifies, its impacts are disproportionately felt by marginalized communities and working-class communities. Throughout this certificate, you will delve into the critical intersection of climate change, labor, and equity, exploring the far-reaching implications of a warming planet on workers, communities, and the broader economy. Through a labor and equity lens, you will examine the causes and consequences of climate change, understanding how this global crisis exacerbates existing inequalities and poses significant challenges for diverse populations.
Higher Education Opportunities
From Governor Kathy Hochul:
Starting this fall, community college will be completely free for adult learners looking to enter high-demand fields. Because no one should have to choose between financial security and a college education. SUNY and CUNY Reconnect will give students the opportunity to pursue their career goals and prepare for meaningful, high-demand careers right here in New York State. And the Reconnect programs don’t just cover tuition – they cover the cost of books, fees, and supplies for students, too. You can attend community college for FREE starting this fall if you:
- Are a resident of New York State or eligible for in-state tuition
- Are between the ages of 25-55
- Don’t currently have a degree
- Are planning to study full-or part-time in one of 175 eligible SUNY associate degree programs or one of 120+ eligible CUNY associate degree programs.
