HECC Community Gathering: Care for Yourself: Embracing Nourishment, Affirmations, and Love
Love is foundational to our health, well-being and connections of all kinds, but we live in a society where the concept of love is misused, and often, dismissed as just a romantic emotion or even viewed as a weakness. What if we learned to identify all of the unhealthy lessons we’ve learned about love, and replace them with a version of love that demands dignity and care for ourselves and for others? How might we ourselves and our communities thrive if they felt truly loved, appreciated, and honored? This year’s HECC Community Gatherings will help us grow our capacity and ability to love and care for ourselves, our neighbors, and society.
Join us on Tuesday, April 7th for Care for Yourself: Embracing Nourishment, Affirmations, and Love, our first HECC Community Gathering of the year! During our time together, we will reflect on love as a liberatory practice and examine how it can be a structural intervention in both our lives and communities. We will also begin to rethink love in ways that ensures dignity and a respect for our full personhood. Through rehumanizing practices that heal and restore, we will:
- Work on slowing down and being present
- Explore love as a liberatory force and how it connects to health equity
- Engage in small group dialogues about love and healing in times of crises
- Build and strengthen relationships across the HECC network
