Community Health Worker Virtual Training
The Community Health Worker training provides necessary theoretical and practical knowledge to address a number of health needs in the community. Through the ten training modules, participants will gain necessary core competencies and knowledge of the communities and populations they support.
This FREE training is offered online to care coordinators, community health workers, service navigators and health support staff.
Attend any or all of the sessions. You can choose which you will attend during registration.
October 11, 1pm—3:30pm - Behavioral Health and Substance Use Disorders—Amanda Duff, PhD
Provides a foundation for understanding people with mental health and substance use disorders in a community setting.
October 18, 9am—11:30am - Health Literacy—Jennifer Manganello, PhD, MPH
Examines the degree to which individuals have the capacity to obtain, process and understand basic health information.
October 25, 1pm—3:30pm - Assessment and Referral - Amanda Duff, PhD
Reviews the identification of tools for monitoring and measuring performance, including performance indicators.
November 1, 9am—11:30am - Obstacles to Primary Care—Mary Kohan, MS
Reviews the challenges persons with health disparities face accessing primary care and strategies to overcome them.
November 8, 9am—11:30am - Workplace Competencies—Mary Kohan, MS
This session is designed to equip aspiring or incumbent Community Health Workers with the skills necessary to be effective in their role.
